How do I get to Byron Bay?
Byron Bay is easily accessible by air or road. The closest international airport is Brisbane Airport, located about 2 hours north, with regular flights from overseas and major Australian cities. Road travel, you can reach Byron Bay via the Pacific Highway from Sydney or Brisbane. 

 

How far from Brisbane international airport to Byron Bay.

Approx. a 2 hr drive south down the M1 highway.

 

How far from Sydney to Byron Bay.

Approx. 8hr drive. 

Or fly from Sydney to Ballina/Byron airport, then a 30-minute drive.

 

Australian traffic rules?

Please be aware of Australian traffic laws.

E.g., Drink driving, and Drug driving is heavily policed, especially in Byron Bay.

 

Accessible surf breaks worth visiting around Byron Bay

There are ramps available at The Pass, Clarks beach, Main beach and Broken Head.

 Accessible toilet facilities.

There will be accessible toilets at the event site. Also available at Main beach, Surf Club and Clarks beach.

 Surfboard repairs.

24hr Surfboard ding repairs are available in Byron Bay from Oliver, 0432737180

 

Byron Bay Parking. Drop off and pick up. Disabled stickers.

Please be aware there is paid parking in Byron Bay.

If you have a Disability Parking Permit from your own country, Byron Bay council will recognise it and allow you to park for free. Your permit must be displayed on your vehicle dashboard/windscreen area. PLEASE BRING YOUR PERMIT.

We have a free parking area for officials next to the event site on Bay Street.

There will be a drop-off – pickup area on Lawson Street right in front of the event site.

There is lots of public parking along Lawson Street, Bay Street and Main beach carpark. (Use your Disability Permit to park for free).
