
Byron Bay will once again welcome the world’s leading para-surfers, with the Bright Sky Australian Adaptive Surfing Championships confirmed to return from 22–29th March 2026.
The nationally sanctioned event — now one of the most anticipated dates on the adaptive surfing calendar — will bring athletes, families, and supporters from across Australia and around the world to Byron’s iconic coastline. Over nine competitive divisions, the championships will showcase skill, courage and high-performance surfing from some of the sport’s most inspiring athletes.
Registrations will officially open on 1 December 2025, with strong interest expected following record participation and audience growth in recent years.
Set against the backdrop of Byron Bay’s natural beauty and vibrant surf culture, the 2026 championships will again highlight the region’s commitment to accessible sport, community connection and world-class competition. The event continues to play a significant role in elevating para-surfing in Australia, providing a pathway for emerging athletes and a platform for seasoned competitors preparing for the international circuit.
